This multi-specialty hospital in Goa provides the best healthcare facilities at affordable rates. It caters to the health requirements of its patients across all departments. From pediatrics to urology, the hospital covers checkups, treatments, and surgeries. The modern hospital has 40 beds inclusive of five beds in an Intensive Care Unit. The ICU is equipped with patient monitoring systems, infusion pumps, arterial blood gas, and state-of-the-art ventilators.

The hospital has large electricity consumption. Electricity is necessary for operating critical medical devices and basic amenities like ventilation, cooling, and lighting. To reduce the operation costs of running these types of equipment, the management approached SUN360 to install a solar power plant on its rooftop. The hospital has a metal roof, so the team designed a full rail structure to place over 200 Waaree polycrystalline solar panels. The Waaree solar panels are connected to a 55 kW SolarEdge inverter with an optimizer system. The roof experiences shade due to the existing solar thermal system and a lift block. The optimizer system improves the performance of all the individual panels in the array despite experiencing shaded conditions.

The 67 kW solar power plant at the hospital in Mapusa was installed during the peak of the pandemic. The hospital and the SUN360 team encountered several challenges while procuring the materials across the Goa border. But despite all odds, the management at the hospital was determined to go solar, and with that confidence, team SUN360 completed the installation successfully towards the end of the first wave.

Today, the hospital saves over INR 6 lakh annually by making this transformative move towards solar. The carbon not emitted is equivalent to planting over 3082 trees. By harnessing the power of solar energy, this hospital is not only contributing to a sustainable future but also providing a healing environment for our patients to thrive in.
